Join a small team of dedicated staff and help us green buildings and cities across North America. For more than twenty years, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities has been working to develop the green roof and wall industry across North America. One of the key ways in which we do this is to organize events that bring together designers, manufacturers, policy makers, and researchers to share new business opportunities, research findings, designs, research, and policy best practices. We are looking for an Events and Business Development Coordinator to help lead this effort.

The primary focus of this position is to help lead fundraising, logistical, and administrative efforts for our events in 2020 and beyond, including

  • CitiesAlive (Philadelphia, fall 2020)
  • Grey to Green (Toronto, spring 2020)
  • Urban Agriculture Summit (Toronto, summer 2020)

Your specific responsibilities in this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and managing work-back plans for the conferences, developing and updating conference event critical paths
  • Identifying, outreaching to, and securing potential sponsors and exhibitors, as well as managing administrative tasks associated with sponsors and exhibitors
  • Sourcing, negotiating, and managing venue and hotel contracts
  • Assisting in the development of new marketing methods and partnerships in relation to events with the President
  • Managing our conference websites (using Squarespace)
  • Coordinating onsite logistics at our events
  • Coordinating conference trade shows, speakers, training, and tours
  • Managing our events in Cvent, including event set up, administration, customer service, and troubleshooting
  • Traveling to conferences and events as required in Canada and the US

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma with a focus on event planning or a related field
  • At least one years experience planning and executing complex events
  • Strong organization skills with a keen eye for detail
  • A high-energy team player who can collaborate and work well in a small team
  • Experience in the non-profit or environmental fields are an asset
  • Experience using Cvent, Squarespace, Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite are an asset

This is a full-time, salaried position, with a starting salary of $35,000 or more, commensurate with experience. Additional incentives will be provided for meeting business development targets.
