Head of Virtual Events

In this role, you will work with high-level stakeholders across all of AWS to gain consensus and buy-in on a virtual event strategy, managing a team of virtual event managers, who are responsible for planning and enablement, platform management, vendor management, and process definition/QA for our virtual events. This team will build out our virtual events operating model, will own and govern operations for virtual events, will provide subject matter expertise, own process definition and deliver enablement to teams that deliver virtual events to customers. This team will also own platform requirement definition, vendor sourcing and management, accessibility requirements (e.g. closed captioning), technical design reviews, QA, and legal and security compliance requirements implementation and audit (e.g. data privacy, pen testing, stress testing).
The ideal candidate must have 10+ years of experience working on virtual and online events. Understanding of both the agency-side/platform-side and client side would be preferred. This highly motivated extremely organized individual must have experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders across the globe. They will utilize their attention to detail, experience in program and project management, and excellent written communication skills to ensure high quality results.
Role and responsibilities
· Hire, lead, and develop a team of virtual event managers and build out the company strategy around virtual events.
· Define program goals and timelines related to key event deliverables and communicate those expectations to global stakeholders.
· Oversee the virtual planning tools and technology used across all events.
· Work closely with senior leaders and technologists to understand roadmaps in order to build successful strategy for a multitude of events.
10+ years of experience working on virtual and online events.
Demonstrated experience in people management
Demonstrated experience with program management
5+ years of corporate event experience
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study
10+ years of experience working on virtual and online events. Understanding of both the agency-side/platform-side and client side would be preferred.
Experience working with global field marketing teams
Existing knowledge of industry tools, such as SalesForce and HTML.
Experience in marketing B2B technology products or services
Experience working with Excel, Tableau, and Qualtrics
Superior oral and written communication skills
Ability to analyze and pull data from various data points
Passionate about process and an innate attention to detail
Excellent time management, resource management and planning skills
Ability to manage time and juggle multiple priorities to execute high quality deliverables
Willingness to travel and ability to work independently and autonomously
Experience working in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional organization
