Meet the team!

Abena
Abena

Abena is the Managing Director and founder of Legacy. Her experience working in the sustainability sector dates back nearly 15 years. She has extensive experience in programme management, monitoring budgets and reviewing financial models, as well as maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

 

Her areas of expertise cover energy and carbon reduction, sustainable water use, and social sustainability. These include working with communities to ensure that development has a positive social impact. Abena has a deep understanding of how sustainability standards operate and a big picture sense of how the broader sustainability landscape is evolving.

Carole

As well as providing planning and on-the-day event support, Carole monitors the environmental impact of the events that are planned and organised by Legacy, ensuring that events are sustainable across our nine strategic themes including energy, water, food and drink and community liaison.

 

Carole has a BA (Hons) degree in Environmental Science and is an affiliate member of the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). She has experience in managing large multi-disciplinary teams and in assessing environmental impact for a range of private and public sector projects across the UK, for example, the High Speed 2 railway infrastructure project.

Shelby

As well as defending the team against aggressive insects and rogue biscuits, Shelby is our team wellness guru. She is an advocate of being outside, regular walks and cuddles.

Libby

Libby has a BA (Hons) Degree in Project Management from Leeds Metropolitan University and has recently completed her PRINCE2 Project Management qualification. She also has experience in event management, working as a conference organiser for PSG from 2005 to 2006 and organising exhibitions for Festivals of Wales in 1999.

 

Libby has experience of managing projects with an annual contract expenditure of up to £33 million, where she was accountable for all aspects of procurement, cost, value, quality, customer satisfaction, safety and reporting across these contracts.

Lauren

Lauren is the Marketing Director at Legacy. She is a results focussed marketer, commercially orientated and flexible in nature, and has a proven track record in delivering marketing strategy to successful execution in fast paced environments.

 

Lauren’s motivation comes from working on things we care about, she is passionate about marketing for purpose.

Hannah

Hannah is currently working towards a degree in Events Management at the University of Plymouth and has joined Legacy part time alongside her studies to assist with the communication, development and delivery of sustainable events. She is also continuing to build our community by helping to grow our sustainable events forum, the Green Room.  

 

With sustainability embedded throughout her degree, she is keen to continue learning about delivering events that are environmentally sound as well as building real world experience in the sustainable events industry.

Karla

Karla is Legacy’s Junior Digital Content Writer. Her primary focus is producing content, and handling the marketing for Legacy’s own Marketplace. Using her journalism degree, she is driven to spread the word about the importance of sustainability through her blog writing and content.

 

Incorporating Legacy Marketplace’s core ‘Your time and our world are precious. Save both!”, Karla is hopeful that the work she and Legacy does will bring everyone in the events industry to be inspired to act and drive positive change.

Michael

Michael is our Junior Graphic Designer & Video Editor here at Legacy. Usually, you will find him creating Legacy’s social media graphics or editing our exciting and very informative videos. 

 

With a degree in Digital arts, Michael wants to be able to spread the ethos that encapsulates, the work that Legacy strives to achieve through his creative background. And to also be a part of a recognisable brand, that people associate with all thing sustainable.

Jane

Jane is our Junior Developer here at Legacy. Her main tasks include maintaining Legacy’s website, improving the Marketplace experience and wireframing as well as UI/UX development and occasionally meeting with clients in order to get a better understanding of their needs and criteria. 

 

With her BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and enthusiasm for practising sustainability in her everyday life, Jane is hoping to get the values both Legacy and herself share to a wider audience through Legacy’s platforms.
